So I'm in love with Entralac, and I'm knitting a new headband.
Started:Feb 7th, 2008
Current Length: 9.5 in
Width: 3 in
Yarn: Self striping Sock Yarn (I threw away the label)
Pattern: Quant

Needles: Size 2 Bamboo Double Pointed needles
I think I'm going to give this headband to my friend who is currently studying in Africa. I figure there she doesn't need a scarf, or hat or anything remotely warm. So I thought maybe I could give her something decorational. I took a picture of the back side of it because the back side is uglier than the front. Anyways I'm going to finish it soon hopefully, and then I can send it to her.
I finished my short rows hat which I'll call my Nana hat because I knit the majority of it while watching the anime Nana with my sister.
STATS:
Started:Jan 3rd, 2008
Finished: Feb 2nd, 2008
Current Length: NA
Width: NA
Yarn: Red Heart Blue and Lavender, 100% Arcryllic
Pattern: Tychus
Needles: Size 8 Aluminum
So I'm not entirely happy with the way this hat turned out, it looks kind of weird. The proportions are totally off, and the edges are different. But the colors are cute and stuff, I'm sure its kind of warm. I might donate it for knitting for change though because it doesn't match my coat. Sorry for the picture with the wet hair, I just recently took a shower.
New Project: Rainbow Socks
Started: Jan 17th, 2008
Current Length: 6in
Width: 6 in
Yarn:Trekking XXL 75% Superwash wool 25% Nylong
Pattern: Mistake Rib Socks
Needles: Size 3 aluminum
While I was Christmas shopping I found the most amazingly soft rainbow sock yarn, and me being me couldn't resist buying it and making myself a pair so thats what I've started, they're cute right?: I think they're going to be my tallest pair that I've knit for myself to date (hopefully)
STATS:
Started: Jan 2nd, 2008
Finished: Jan 16th, 2008
Length: Unsure, I forgot to measure them before I game them to her
Width: 6 in
Yarn: Self striping Sparkling Sock Yarn (I threw away the label) but its made of Wool, Cotton and Nylon
Pattern: Knit 3, Purl 2 on the leg
Needles: Size 3 aluminum
This pair is the first pair of socks that Ive actually used the Kitchener stitch or grafting the toes, hence the picture. I usually just double stitch the inside of them, I have to admit though the grafting is pretty awesome, My friend April, who is going to France in like a wee, got these socks and we had her big blowout party on Thursday/Friday. I got a lot of cute pictures of them playing with them. and I'm really pleased with how these socks turned out, and I hope April has fun in France, I'll miss you!
New Project: Entrelac Shawl
STATS:
Started: Jan 8th, 2007
Current Length: 16 in
Width: 18 in
Yarn: Some sort of really soft yarn I have left over (Ive made two and a half scarves out of these three skeins)
Pattern: I'm using a basic Entrelac pattern with repeating rows of 8
Needles: Size 19 (!!!) plastic
I'm making this shawl for my sister who really loves the fuzzy yarn. I'm using big needles to made it look lacy. I also really like it because it's forgiving. Entrelac normally has a right side and a wrong side, but because the yarn is thin and the needles are big mistakes disappear and both sides look okay. Hopefully it'll look pretty (my sister doesn't wear scarves so I thought maybe she'd wear a shawl, hopefully.
So I finished one of my current projects, the Entrelac Headband
STATS:
Started: Dec 30th, 2007 (probably)
Finished: Jan 7th, 2008
Length: 18 in (not counting the end ties)
Width: 2.75in
Yarn: Self striping Sock Yarn (I threw away the label)
Pattern: Quant
Needles: Size 2 Bamboo Double Pointed needles
I'm going to give it to my roomie as a Christmas gift because I used the extra yarn that I bought to make her socks out of for this headband... so she'll have a headband to match her socks, how cute. I actually really didn't like the yarn the way it knit out into a sock, way too pink for my taste. But as a headband I think it is rather charming. My sister says its too wide but its a ton thinner than the original pattern and I rather like it. I will probably make one for myself if/when I find yarn I like. This is also a great project I think for making presents, its a lot easier than it looks doesn't take tooo long and the final piece is pretty cool looking if I say so myself.
I'll be posting some past projects of mine soon so keep looking!
So I'm starting a blog... a knitting blog. Just because I thought it would be fun.
So to start I guess I'm going to list my current projects. I have four currently (which is actually a little unusual for me but since its winter break I have more time on my hands.) Anyways my sister bought me Stitch n' Bitch for me for) Christmas and its amazing. But here I will record my current projects and my progress on them.
Project 1: Trendy Cable Scarf
Started: Sometime in November
Current Length: 25 in
Width: 3in
Yarn: Lang Yarns superwash 75% Wool, 18% Nylon, 7% Arcylic
Pattern: Irish Hiking scarf
Needles: Size 3 Bamboo Double Pointed needles
The Cables are hard to see because of the way the yarn is multi-colored. I tried my best to show them off best I could but its cute and really skinny, but it is mostly wool so it'll be pretty warm. This was my first try with cables and I'm actually really pleased how it looks so far, however since it's skinny it's probably going to have to be pretty long
Project 2: Entralac Headband
STATS:
Started: Dec 30th, 2007 (probably)
Current Length: 13 in
Width: 2.75in
Yarn: Self striping Sock Yarn (I threw away the label)
Pattern: Quant
Needles: Size 2 Bamboo Double Pointed needles
I didn't like the original width of the headband pattern so I used sock yarn and small needles to create this. It's made from left over yarn that I used to make my roommate socks for Christmas. Entralac is a really pretty pattern that is surprising not has hard as I thought it would be. I kind of don't like all the holes because of my knit2tog but hopefully they'll get better as I get more used to it.the tie at the end of the cord is called an i-chord, short for Idiot chord because its what happens when you knit the wrong way, cute right?
Project 3: Going to France Socks
STATS:
Started: Jan 2nd, 2008
Current Length: 2.5 in
Width: 6 in
Yarn: Self striping Sparkling Sock Yarn (I threw away the label) but its made of Wool, Cotton and Nylon
Pattern: Knit 3, Purl 2 on the leg
Needles: Size 3 aluminum
I'm making this pair of socks for my friend who will be spending her spring Semester in France. I actually was using a different pattern earlier, but I didn't complete it because it was too subtle for the pattern of the yarn. Since my friend is leaving in late January this is the only project with a deadline. I learned how to make socks from This Tutorial. I found it extremely helpful and Socks are now my favorite thing to knit.
Project 4: Short Rows Hat
STATS:
Started:Jan 3rd, 2008
Current Length: NA
Width: NA
Yarn: Red Heart Blue and Lavender, 100% Arcryllic
Pattern: Tychus
Needles: Size 8 Aluminum
This is my second hat like this. This is my second ever pompom its kind of cute. This hat is made by stitching together five little wedges, I've completed one of them and the other ones are on its way. This hat is really easy, but I think its cool forming a hat this way instead of doing it sideways. The little cardboard thing next to the pompom is a pompom maker, made out of cardboard, they're actually pretty fun to make.
So thats all the projects I'm working on for now, I'll keep track of projects as I start and finish them
